Tony Leung Eyes Film Production?

While Tony Leung (梁朝偉) has been approached to star in numerous projects, the highly acclaimed actor reveals that he wants to dip his toes in film production. Tony plans to personally selecting the director and cast, and will likely put his vision to action next summer at the earliest.

Sharing his production ambitions, Tony said, “Only you can do what you want, and many things can be under your control. Besides, I have been acting for 42 years. I can’t sit and wait. I need to take some initiatives.”

Tony already had a preliminary idea for his film and revealed that he would like to incorporate some action scenes to the plot. Tony said, “First I will have to run it by the director. Everything is at the early stage like writing the script, seeing if the plot can work out and finding a crew. It all takes time.”

When asked if Tony will make an appearance in his own film, he responded, “Of course I will.”
Tony believed that he has reach the end stages of his acting career and would like to realize his ideas on a different platform.

Recent Vacations

Recently, Tony vacationed in Bhutan and he had many praises for the country. Tony shared that Bhutan is a gem for relaxation, beautiful sceneries and it has few tourists. He also mentioned that he stopped by Bangkok, Thailand and enjoyed tasting the local cuisine. While he hadn’t decided the destination for his next trip, Tony revealed that he will be at the Tokyo International Film Festival as a panel member and will be watching 15 different films.

Speaking about his role in his first European film, Silent Friend, Tony had spent half a year to prepare for the role by reading books on topics he was not familiar with such as neuroscience and botany. Tony also visited many museums and galleries.

When asked if he would participate in stage plays, Tony said he wanted to focus on film production at the moment. When asked if Tony is worried about forgetting dialogues for stage plays, he replied excitedly, “You can ask my co-stars when have I ever forget my lines?”
