TVB 45th Anniversary Lighting Ceremony
TVB kicked off the celebration of the 45th Anniversary with a light up ceremony and used the opportunity to promote their four heavyweight dramas, The Confidant <大太監>, Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族>, The Last Steep Ascent <天梯>, and Highs and Lows <雷霆掃毒>. It was a special gathering in which more than a hundred artists attended.
Two-time TV King, Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and veteran actor Damien Lau (劉松仁 ) were placed at the center of the group photo of the two anniversary series. Lovers, Moses Chan (陳豪 ) and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺 ), flirted in front of the audience and gave many photo opportunities for the media. The star-studded 45th Anniversary lighting ceremony gave a sneak preview of the exciting upcoming awards show in December.
Raymond Lam Delivers Opening Act
Raymond Lam (林峯 ) opened the lighting ceremony with a special performance. Based on the examples of past opening performances, Raymond’s chance of winning the Most Popular Hong Kong Artist Award in this year’s Jade Solid Gold <勁歌金曲> is highly possible. Raymond said, “Thanks for boosting my confidence. Since Highs and Lows is the last on the list of shows to preview during the awards show, this will allow me plenty of time to change after the opening act.” Raymond also mentioned he was asked to perform in the opening act only several days ago.
Wayne Lai Remains TV King Favorite
Former TV King and heavy favorite for this year’s title, Wayne Lai, finally drew one of the 45 lucky stars after 15 years of drought, and this could be a lucky omen for another TV King award. Wayne was asked if he has confidence to win the award this year during the ceremony. He replied, “I feel I have a 50/50 chance of winning the award, but I really like the setting of The Confidant.”
Wayne’s costar, Michelle Yim (米雪), the favorite for this year’s TV Queen award also said,”If we were to win the awards, I certainly won’t mind at all!”
Moses Chan and Aimee Chan Flirt Openly
To promote the series, The Last Steep Ascent, Moses Chan and Aimee Chan performed a Chinese wedding tradition by kicking the door of a bridal sedan chair. The emcee of the ceremony, Carol “Dodo” Cheng (鄭裕玲) teased the couple by joking, “You guys are flirting with each other in front of the viewers, getting married soon?” The couple replied afterwards that they were just trying to make the show more fun and enjoyable, but did not expect Dodo to come up with an impromptu joke.
Moses said not all the cast members were present, including the leading actress Maggie Cheung (張可頤), to promote the series, so they have to work even harder. When asked about winning the awards together at this year award show, Moses said “We both have a laid back attitude towards winning the awards.”

Nope, Moses will not win TV King this time around. His role in TLSA isn’t very outstanding. IMO, it is Joel Chan and Samantha Ko that completely stole the spotlight. Edwin Siu makes a decent villain as well.
It’s unfortunate that Joel is too busy digging gold atm because I am very pleased with his recent performances at TVB. His role in “Curse of the Royal Harem” was also the best character in the entire show.
I hope the two anniversary dramas this year won’t disappoint.
Moses acting is also very textbook. Samantha Ko surprised me. I didn’t know she can act.

They have LF perform at a lot of events b/c he’s their only siu sung/singer combo (kevin not singing again yet). It doesn’t mean he’ll win anything, not even the less coveted my fave character award.

Based on the standing placing among SSSS cast, Kenneth Ma has a higher position than Ron.
Only Tavia and Kate attend the ceremony. This is subtle hint that TVB will put them as the finalist for female side. I feel a bit sorry for Ella because she took an unimpressive and boring role in HAL that didn’t do justice to her acting. Didn’t she read the script for her character before receiving?

I believe this is highly likely too. It seems clear to me that he is going to stay max a couple of more years – and probably only 1-2 series per year. He probably want the award before moving on, and TVB might award it to him to continue a good working relationship and to reward him for his many years of loyalty.

It’s been a while since his presence at the Lighting Ceremony was so prominent. Probably because he hasn’t had many series that were true award/anniversary series. IMO, it’s probably him who has rejected to attend/perform since he knew that he wasn’t likely to get the BA award. That he takes time out of his busy schedule to attend – and open the show – seems to indicate to me that it is very likely that he knows the award is his. Or at least very well stacked in his favour. If it’s true that they have a audience voting system this year, well then the award is as good as his due to his large fanbase. If not, as long as Wayne’s character isn’t too well received then it’s also still in the bag because the most well-received actors this year seems to be Kenneth. And there’s no way that Kenneth will get it before LF.
@advo: He confirmed that from 2012 onwards, he only films 1 series with Txb series, so won’t have any second one for Txb in a year. He signed a 5 year contract started from 2012 so he’ll stay with Txb to 2017 unless in 2016 he renews the contract. He is the only one among his peers can sign 5 year contract with Txb. The others sign way longer, such as Ron 9 years, Bosco 11 years, MM 11 years.
However he has never had an anni series. The best timeslot to his series is like HAL: Before the anni series. But anni series, never.
I think the reason for him to perform in Lightening show, from his side, is that he is in HK and have nothing else to do (he is waiting to go to Shanghai to film next week and no job except the functions at this moment). From Txb’s aspect, maybe they have some plan to switch the Best singer and Asia-Pacific one between LF and Leo this year?
LF won’t need to stay. Me think after 2017 he will flew to EEG and completely become top movie star only and flew to top HK singer. TVB and hard filming can go die LOL 😀
Still has 3-4 more years for him to decide. If Txb treats him good enough, maybe he’ll stay for loyalty and keep the open contract with Txb just like now, or even more good conditions and rights than now.
But he said that he wouldn’t film Shaw Brother’s movies in the near future. Look like he looks forward to bigger movies than the ones with Txb/Shaw. Raymond Wong seems to love him a lot by casting LF in all of recent big movie of his company: a 1.3 bil big ancient movie, a comedy of a famous comedy director (Vincent Kuk) and a horror one directed by a foreign director (UK born Chinese, directed for Holywood thrilling movie). Raymond Wong is preparing for a big movie about Wei Si Li and he nominated Louis Koo and LF for the movie. So LF is likely to be same to Louis Koo – being a frequent face in Raymond Wong’s movies.
SB make bad small budget movies. To be a big movie star like Louis better if LF stay on track now and this Raymond Wong can help LF with big interesting movies to mark his name as top movie star.
Raymond is a talented actor and singer! Why would producers ask for him, why would he be offered to hold all those concerts? What about the platinmum sales for his CDs if he was otherwise? Even after all the unnecessary bad comments and bad press generated every time he gets a award, he remains humble. Like he said, awards are bonuses.

Is there a back up plan if the voting system is blown up?
The voting system this time has 24 hours timeframe so there is less of rushed flooding to blow the system. The suggested plan now TVB will pick the finalist and the audience will vote for their winner.
They should have all the artistes in attendance vote off the final 5 “survivor” style. This is considered a vote by their peers so it is fair.

What makes you think there will be such things? They are just a group of close knit friends in real life. I’m sure they will be professional if it comes to voting but it’s also their choice if they don’t think Tavia is the best actress.

Initially I am indifferent as to whether voting are from TVB or audience as both have pros and cons. But on reflection I now think phone voting maybe the best option. They maybe from fans but at least they are the audience and representing public rather than TVB promoting their actors and actresses. As after all these awards are (or should be)based on their actings and not about favouritism.

I have got a feeling the reletionship between these two are for show/public appearance and not a true relationship. They just do not interact as a couple when together but rather a polite interview and smiles. However I might be proved wrong when they announce they are getting married! haha
I think they’re real but what annoyed people is how TVB and themselves are shoving their relationship to the public. As if we’re forced to accept and love them.
I find it fascinating how OTT this relationship is. All other TVB relationships are basically “underground” until they are irrefutably exposed by tabloids yet Moses/Aimee is completely in the open. Frankly, that makes me very suspicious of them too.

Myolie didn’t attend and I noticed that this year the lighting ceremony only features TVB artistes who are in the current promoted big series – TLSA, HAL, SSSS, TC. Unlike past years where all artistes will attend.
That’s good business sense. Tvb is trying to attract viewers for their new series so no point on featuring other artistes. It might even be a distraction, e.g.- the media would hound HimHim or Toby Leung to reenact the scenes of the crime w/ tavia and RonRon. 🙂
Besides they can showcase the other artistes at the sales presentation night.

He also implied in the new news ytd that the price 200k RMB/eps for his new China series (stated by reporters) is lower than the amount he is paid. It’s said that he is paid 400k RMB/eps for it. Mean KC’s price in China is surpassed by LF.

Out of curiosity, and as I don’t live in Hong Kong, could anyone be so kind as to describe how TVB is going to implement this “one person one vote” system? Like, what time does the voting open and close? How is TVB planning to enforce that each person only votes once — by IP address, or do viewers have to enter an ID number when they vote? Is it possible for overseas fans to vote?
Also, I’m wondering how they are planning to shortlist the nominees? Is TVB going to decide the shortlist or is there going to be a prior round of audience voting?
To vote: They’ll count HKer by technical method, including IP, address, phone number. Of course oversea fans can’t vote unless they use software to change IP, use fake address and phone number to disguise themselves HKer.
And Txb also has the idea to vote by phone (HK phone number) only, not the online voting.
The ones who wanna vote must have a Tvb.com username (last year the tvb.com award is counted this way, also the poll for JSG round 1,2,3 poll).
The nomination: It might be shortlist by 7 executives of Txb. Mrs Yu of Txb mentioned that 7 executives might choose the candidates for the audience to vote.

No 45. Last year was 44 but 44 = Sei Sei, same to death death so they changed the name to Going to 45 to avoid the bad luck.

He can do ads for losing weight medicine, if he can lose weight.

It will be hard for Ron to do weight loss ads because can he maintain the weight loss during the contract term? Beer ads can give him free beer for his pool activities with bikinis.

TVB needs to stop sucking on musical selections. TVB should just preview the anniversary series tv theme songs and current series tv theme songs or sub songs if they have one and called it a day.

To sum up it is a BORING show! Could have play a little game or little joke or little gossip. Just this year its just boring!
My thinking about the show:
Musical is the theme. Jade kwan tried too hatd to fight with GEM so they dun sounds blend. Alfred Hui improved a lot on performance. Like the opening performance. And LF changed so fast back to his role in HAL.
Amigo is back, so fast. But he is a better MC than Patrick. Would yawn is Patrick is the MC.
Among SSSS cast for the dance, many cant dance. Mary Hon and JJ Jia are the best with the moves. Rebecca is ok. Wonder why they choose a ball dance when many cant dance like this? Better make a court.
All the skits are boring. HAL skit ends so lame but the MeMo moment is simply ridiculous. TC one might be the best. SSSS dance annoyed me with the wooden moves of most ppl. Next time just let Mary , Damien, JJ and Rebecca dance.
TC trailer looks good and more ppl than other Txb harem series, lolz. SSSS looks boring except Damien in few scenes such as the slaps to Vincent. From the trailer I look forward to see Raymond Cho in TC. Good job. Raymond Wong looks too pale? Rebecca seems to be good as a newbie. But i cant hold my laughters to Chirstine and Raymond Wong Titanic scenes. Mary Hon seems to be the best in SSSS, for woman. She always has the aura. So from trailer, I will say yes to TC and no to SSSS.
Ah Jie isnt too out of model but I cant like her dress.

Of the 5 in the front row, Kenneth and Michael look good, and Kate still very sexy and gorgeous in her white outfit. However, Ron looks overweight and Raymond too thin. Haven’t made up my mind who I’d like to win since my favourites Kevin and Myolie seem to be out of the picture.
