TVB Announces Top 20 Contestants for Miss Hong Kong 2016
The 2016 Miss Hong Kong Pageant has chosen its top 20 contestants. It will be held on September 11, 2016 at TVB City.
This year, the organizers selected the finalists through the process of elimination. The 30 original contestants were asked to perform in front of a judging panel at Friday’s Most Popular TV Commercial Awards. The panel, which comprised of a planning committee and professionals from the TV commercial industry, graded their quick performances. In the end, 10 of the contestants were eliminated.
On Monday, TVB held a press conference to announce the top 20 contestants who will be entering the pageant’s second stage of competition. The girls will be shooting a new series of commercials, all the while training to compete for the MHK crown.
Surprisingly, hot favorite Maggie Kwong (鄺美淇), dubbed by the media as the “upgraded Grace Chan”, failed to get selected for top 20. Sophie Yip (葉蒨文), known as the Bernice Liu look-a-like, also got eliminated.
