TVB Celebrities Share Their Most Memorable Christmas Gifts
With less than a month until Christmas, TVB artistes shared their most memorable presents that they have ever received. While the celebrities received many presents over the years, their favorite presents come from the heart.
Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯): A Hand Knit Scarf
Roxanne’s most memorable present was a warm scarf that was handknit by a male classmate in college, “The scarf had a lot of holes, so I knew that it was difficult for him to knit it. I was very surprised to receive this present, because I had always liked handmade gifts. The present was very thoughtful.”
Roxanne added she still treasures the scarf, “I won’t throw away other people’s thoughtful gifts. Sometimes, I take it out to look at it but not because of yearning. We still keep in contact with each other, and he is already married.”
Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿): Being a First Time Father
Recalling his best Christmas present, Lai Lok Yi revealed that it was when his wife Nicole Lee (李潔瑩) announced that she was pregnant with their first child, “That day, my wife slyly told me, ‘You’re going to be a father!’ I still remember that moment because from that moment on, a new life has become a part of my life. This had more meaning than any other gift, and I kept thinking if the child would be just like me.”
As a proud father, Lai Lok Yi couldn’t stop doting on his son, “He is very attached to me. Whenever we are having dinner, he likes to sit on my lap. Nicole would stop him but I would tell her, ‘Let him sit. He won’t be so little for long.’ My son is actually very cunning. He would always say he loves his mom, more but he likes to stick to me. It’s because I play with him and spoil him.”
Tony Hung (洪永城): Studying Abroad
When he was 10 years old, Tony got the biggest surprise of his life when his parents gave him the opportunity to study in New Zealand, “That year, my mom suddenly told me ‘You’re going to study in New Zealand next week.’ I was a little scared at that time because I wasn’t a good student. Thankfully, my relatives were there to take care of me so my parents didn’t have to worry. I ended up going to secondary school there for eight years and then came back to Hong Kong for college.”
As Tony and his wife Inez Leong (梁諾妍) are expecting their first child, Tony was asked if he will let his child follow his footstep and study abroad. Tony replied, “It’s really difficult to afford studying abroad and I’ve got a couple of years to go before I can do it. I will think about it later, maybe I will be reluctant to send them off.”
Grace Wong (王君馨): Teddy Bear and Spent 14 Hours to Bake a Cake
Grace has been on the receiving end of a meaningful gift, and also spent a lot of time preparing a special present for her husband.
The actress shared that the most surprising gift she ever received was from her husband, “Back then we had a long-distance relationship. One time, he came to Hong Kong and one of his luggage contained a giant teddy bear. He said he was worried that I would feel lonely, so he gave me a stuffed bear to keep me company. Currently, the teddy bear sits in our bedroom.”
On the flip side, Grace shared that she surprised her husband and spent hours baking a cake in the shape of Teenage Mutant Turtles. Grace explained, “It was his birthday present. I thought it would take 4 or 5 hours to make, but it ended up taking a full 14 hours. My husband had no idea how long it took to make the cake, but I recorded the process. My husband was very surprised, and he was reluctant to eat it. I gave myself 98 points for this masterpiece.”

I thought Tony Hung and Lai Lok Yi’s “gifts” were definitely life changing! It’s more of an announcement of important news though!
With the upcoming holidays, gift-giving is probably on everyone’s minds now. Handmade presents are always the best, because they are unique and personalized! The best Christmas presents I received were from my husband: a handmade music box with sand from one of our beach vacations, and a photo book of our memories together.
Would love to hear from everyone regarding favorite Christmas presents you have received!
My most memorable Christmas present would be a box of chocolates from a fellow Charmaine Sheh fan all the way from Hawaii >>> Malaysia! It was such a lovely gesture and we still keep in touch today.
@Sehseh That’s such a sweet gift, made all the more memorable for the distance it traveled and the person who sent it!
