TVB Wants Exclusive Broadcast of Moses Chan and Aimee Chan’s Wedding?

Rumors of Moses Chan (陳豪) and Aimee Chan’s (陳茵媺) marriage and pregnancy continue, and this time, it has been said that TVB also wants to be part of it.

Last month, Aimee suddenly turned down her role for TVB’s upcoming wuxia drama Cold Mountain, Hidden Dragon <寒山潛龍>, a few weeks before the drama was to begin shooting. TVB stated that Aimee had requested to return to her home in Toronto, Canada for a family visit. Aimee later revealed that her reason for declining the role was for her deteriorating health.

A few days later, a source disclosed that Aimee was two months pregnant. Her sudden move to return home – as well as Moses’ purchase of a $30 million HKD independent house in Tai Po – led others to believe that not only will the pair tie their nuptial knot soon, they are also preparing to welcome a new member to their family.

Oriental Sunday reported that TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲), upon hearing the marriage and pregnancy news, immediately contacted Moses for the rights of an “exclusive broadcast” of their wedding on TVB Jade, similar to what Eric Tsang (曾志偉) had provided for his 60th birthday party. Moses reportedly declined the offer. Aimee also refused to accept any phone interviews from the Hong Kong press and opted for a quiet vacation in Canada.

On June 2, Moses returned to Hong Kong from a trip to Canada. The press tried to pry questions concerning Aimee’s alleged pregnancy, but the 42-year-old kept silent. Nonetheless, Moses was in good spirits.

Moses’ mother, who permanently resides in Australia, also returned to Hong Kong with him. It was reported that his mother was there to arrange for her son’s wedding.

A close friend of Aimee revealed, “Moses and Aimee did plan to get married in the next two years. Moses visited Aimee’s parents in Canada last year asked to marry Aimee. Her parents also purchased a 3,000-feet estate in Brookers Lane as Aimee’s dowry. Aimee is expected to deliver in January. They plan to register their marriage first, and then return to Hong Kong after delivering the baby, meeting with their family and close friends in a quiet celebration. It will be a very private and low-profile marriage.”

Moses and Aimee’s wish for privacy, as reported by Oriental Sunday, was a reason why Moses rejected Miss Lok’s suggestion of a televised marriage. A source said, “Miss Lok was trying to convince Moses to broadcast their marriage, and also suggested to hold their wedding at Shaw Studios, free of charge. But Moses wouldn’t budge.”

Moses had once expressed his indifference in renewing his TVB management contract, preferring to pursue a coffee shop business. The tabloid magazine claimed that because of Moses’ disinterest, and Aimee’s pregnancy, the pair may not continue to film for TVB in the near future.

  1. Well, I’m very seldom posting comments on jaynestar, but I just saw this article and had to say that TVB is really a busybody. If they want to keep a low profile, let them keep a low profile. Why interfere in other people’s lives?

    1. I disagree. Once you are in show business,be prepared for no privacy, otherwise, stay out of the limelight business.

  2. I’m glad that Moses turned down the offer. TVB is obviously using every opportunity to milk them dry. Who does TVB think Moses and Aimee are? Prince William and Kate Middleton?

    1. lol. Well said, though. I think nobody cares about both of them, and I don’t think they care about anybody either. But TVB’s intention is too obvious: publicity. I’m not a big fan of both of them as actors but glad to know they turned down the offer, too.

  3. Trying to make a buck off someones marriage and milking them for all they got. Now they know what their true value in TVB’s eyes, good way of burning all the bridges before they leave.

  4. Without TVB training ground Moses and Aimee wouldn’t be as well known as today…this is no pain no gain…since they’ve decided to leave tvb just let them go…

  5. Moses had once expressed his indifference in renewing his TVB management contract, preferring to pursue a coffee shop business. The tabloid magazine claimed that because of Moses’ disinterest, and Aimee’s pregnancy, the pair may not continue to film for TVB in the near future.

Didnt his coffee shop business fail previously?
headlines 3 years latert- moses chan return to tvb due to bankruptcy.

    1. Bankruptcy? Not that serious, pls. It failed because he has no time to look after the business in Malaysia. There was a dispute with the partners in Malaysia, that is why he decide to leave.

  6. Haha…smart of Moses and Aimee to turn down the offer, especially given TVB’s track record, as the last 2 couples that TVB broadcasted wedding shows for didn’t turn out so well.   I mean, honestly, must TVB be involved in everything?  Just because their artists sign a management contract with them, does that mean they need to be involved in every aspect of the artists’ lives too?  Heck, why don’t they offer to film Aimee giving birth too (that is, if she truly is pregnant)?  Does that mean they have ‘exclusive rights’ to the

    1. My comment got cut off….the last sentence is supposed to read:  Does that mean they have ‘exclusive rights’ to the baby too? Sheesh!

    2. Haha, TVB never misses an opportunity to take adv. of its artists. Prolly wanted the rights free of charge or pay the standard costs per episode so no wonder Moses refused TVB’s generous offer.

      1. LOL…nah…seeing how ‘cheap’ TVB is, I doubt they offered to pay Moses, nor will they spend much money on his wedding show either (if he had agreed to let them do it)….after all, he ain’t no Eric Tsang (at least with Eric, the millions that TVB spent on his party was ‘worth it’ in a sense due to all the big name celebrities who attended – many of whom TVB would not have been able to get on their own without using Eric’s name…).  Moses, of course, doesn’t have those types of ‘connections’…..to me, I see this more as an ‘entitlement’ thing on TVB’s part – meaning that since both Moses and Aimee are TVB managed artists and TVB was responsible for building their careers and making them popular, it only makes sense that TVB should have exclusive rights to the wedding as well…

      2. TVB will not waste a penny on their wedding, everything will be paid by sponsors. Materials will be of lowest quality in order to make a profit.

The artists will work unpaid in this special event and the person responsible of the marriage ceremony will be no other than TVBuddy, LOL

You can imagine a sacred marriage turned into a TVB commercial “Stop the free licenses, bc TVB is the best” and not to mention they will have to play stupid games.

    3. LOL … love your comment on the giving birth part … too funny.

They should offer the newly wed a reality show, the wedding, the moving into their new home, buying furnitures and housewares, setting up the nursery, the birth, then follow the child till he/she is 18 yrs old … and in between, birthdays, anniversaries, family picnics … would that be nice … NOT!!!

  7. I doubt moses’s ability to have his own business despite he studied accountancy for his degree.

  8. Unless he has no cash to feed the baby or a college fund… Then he will absolute do it.

  9. TVB is desperate to raise their ratings and willing to stoop to new lows to get an exclusive anything. What would be a dagger in TVB’s heart is Moses and Aimee decide to give exclusive 1st photos of their weddings and short edited video takes of their wedding to HKTV a few days later instead. After all, Moses and AImee owe no allegiance to TVB except for the mandate drama series that they are required to fulfil. Marriage is their own private matter and should be left up to them to decide how they want to publicize it or not.

  10. TVB live telecast of artistes wedding is jinxed.

The other couples that did the same ie Lydia Shum & Adam Cheng, Alex Man & Tien Niu ended up in divorce.

    1. Yup…and don’t forget Sun Ma Tze Tsang’s wedding in 1992 (which was a bit of a ‘circus’ if you ask me….sorry, but it sort of grossed me out to see a 70 year old man play those silly wedding games with his wife in front of an audience like that) – though they didn’t end up divorcing, there was that whole Tang family fight over the old man’s assets after he died several years later.

And talking about Alex Man and Tien Niu’s famous TVB wedding (also in 1992) – look at all the fanfare that went into that and all the artists that it had involved back then, only to end in divorce 4 years later….even Tien Niu herself said years later that she felt as though she was putting on a show and it felt so unreal.

    2. It seems that way so glad that they declined the offer. Singaporean couple Chris Lee and Fann Wong had a high profile wedding, but they are fine. However, TVB was not involved so maybe it only applies to TVB??

  11. Seriously?? What is this the Kardashians? Are these two that popular that they can get that type of attention? Glad they found their happiness in each other, but seriously…not a fan of either and totally hate Amiee’s acting, so for me…couldn’t give a hoot!

    1. yup i just saw the photo on fb too.. yes finally they are married and i hope Aimee will leave tvb or tvb please promote Aimee lesser.. just my opinion.. no offence.. ^^

      1. Ditto, your focus should be on motherhood and as Mrs Chan, acting is just not your forte, sorry!

  12. The article here never confirmed or said that they are getting or have gotten married. All the article talked about was TVB discussing with Moses about having their marriage broadcast. We don’t even know if the discusion did happen or not! We also don’t know if the marriage and pregnancy is true!

  13. Congrats to them! Since the media was right about their wedding, I’m going to assume Aimee is pregnant too. Double happiness!

  14. Sorry TVB too late… they’re married already

  15. Congrats to them!!
Thus this also confirmed the pregnancy rumours I guess ^^v
As for some customs, it’s better to only announce our pregnancy to others when the Baby is at least 3 months old.
    Congrats again!!!
So happy for Moses and Aimee!!!!

    1. *maybe that’s the reason why Moses keeps declined to gives an exact answer*

  16. Congrats to Aimee and Moses! I’m very happy for them that they will start a new chapter of their life together.

In regards to TVB’s “exclusive rights to broadcast, I think that’s ridiculous! Why on earth would you want to do that to them? Getting married should be a joyous occasion not some monkey’s act. It’s REALLY disrespectful to them. I honestly think that they only reason why they want broadcast rights is because Moses is a diamond bachelor and now he’s a married man. TVB needs to stop making their artist’s life like some reality TV show like the Kardashians. Their main goal is publicity and get more viewers to watch TVB’s other shows so that they have viewership. The more people watch on their channels the better the ratings will be. They should be happy for the couple not turning it into some circus show.

  17. This is why I favor this couple over LF and Karena. Karena is making money by selling interviews and whatnot about her relationship while Moses and Aimee are attempting to keep their relationship low-profile.

    1. Agreed, I prefer Aimee/Moses too. The other infamous couple is all about self-promotion.

  18. Good news, the wedding & pregnancy, means that we see less of Aimee on TV,not sure that there are many people out there interested in their wedding, sure to be embarrasing for the couple if few people interested. however, respect for the couple for refusing to demean their wedding by agreeing to turn it into a circus

  19. SOrry to say even though TVB is a leach and dispicable on how they treat most of their employees, they are still the main show in town. We, as viewers, really do not have a viewing choice on the shows coming out of HK until the inept HK TV licensing board speeds up their approval process for the other applicants. I am looking forward to the highly acclaimed HKTV shows.

  20. Where is the respect?? Using their happiness and privacy as a way to make money…yeah, happiness when shared can be a very blissful thing, but being ‘shared’ and exposed like that, like some scripted reality show o____O wtf 620?? Got any other filthy ideas in your bag of tricks..
