Wallace Huo Makes Surprise Cameo in “Light the Night”
Surprising fans with an unannounced cameo on a recent episode of Netflix original series Light the Night <華燈初上>, actor Wallace Huo (霍建華) was praised as “the most good-looking inmate”!
Support for Wife Ruby Lin’s Heavyweight Production
The 41-year-old’s unexpected appearance in the Taiwanese drama – his first time onscreen in a two-year hiatus, was interpreted as a strong show of support for his wife Ruby Lin (林心如), who was both producer and also lead actress for the production, into which she had reportedly poured a hefty $276 million HK dollars.
As there had been no previous announcements regarding Wallace’s cameo, fans were delighted and this ignited fervent online discussions, with the related hashtag “Wallace Huo cameoed in Ruby Lin’s new drama” topping Chinese search rankings at one point. A combined 1.5 million views and discussions were reached within a short 5 hours, showing netizen’s avid interest.
Themed around Taipei’s red light district back in the 1980s, episode eight has female lead Cheryl Yang (楊謹華) visiting Wallace, who is due to be released the following month, in prison; the two spoke while separated by a glass panel between them. As Cheryl reminds him of his impending release, Wallace tells her, “Sis, my life had been given by you, if it weren’t for you, I’d have lost my life long ago!”
Marital Game Still Strong
Praising Wallace for his good physical form, netizens said he had kept up his good looks worthy of the male god label, and laughingly described him as the “most good-looking inmate, while expressing their wish to see him act opposite wife Ruby Lin!
As the couple has had their fair share of squabbles in recent years – the two were even spotted having a public spat on Taipei streets last year, news of a marriage crisis was only dispelled with the duo shared a photo of them hugging on social media.
Many fans therefore expressed that Wallace’s cameo was a smart wife-pampering move, and an alternative way to declare their love.
