Wayne Lai Moves into Luxury Home and Buys Lamborghini
Earning money is pointless if it is not put to use. Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and his family earlier moved from their apartment in Sham Tseng to a luxurious individual flat in Sheung Shui. The TV King has been working nonstop over the recent years, with no free time to spare. Moving into the new house, as well as purchasing a $3 million HKD Lamborghini serves as a reward.
“I have work almost everyday. Even when I’m filming a drama, I have other jobs such as attending shows in the United States. I did stay there for a couple days to shop and eat, but the feeling is different from when you actually go on vacation. My wife and I both like to stay home, and my son doesn’t really enjoy going out either. We all love staying indoors, so we decided it’s fine to spend a large amount of money for the house. In the future, I won’t need to travel to Thailand. When I get a day off, I can just stay home and go for a swim as if I were at a resort. It’s just as happy and satisfying,” Wayne expressed.
The new house is over 3,000 feet in size, with an exquisitely designed private garden located outside. The rent costs approximately $60,000 HKD per month. Wayne revealed that he has never lived in an individual flat before. With its spacious rooms, he is able to fulfill his dream of purchasing his son a larger desk for homework purposes.
Since properties are extremely pricey at the moment, Wayne said that he prefers to rent the house first before making a purchase. Tabloids pointed out that his previous apartment has very good feng shui, allowing him to take home the TVB Best Actor award three times. Wayne admitted, “Everything was indeed successful when I lived there. But I still think feng shui is just a consideration, because work is about one’s own efforts. At the moment, I don’t know whether I will sell the apartment or put it out for rent. But I’m liking the selling option more, because I feel that renting to others is a lot of trouble.”
Does Not Mind Criticism of “Bullet Brain”
Wayne’s current series, Bullet Brain <神探高倫布>, continues to suffer from low ratings and criticism of netizens despite having aired for three weeks. Wayne said, “I never take success or failure seriously. Being in the industry for many years, I’ve filmed numerous dramas. It’s not like I’ve never lost before. As an actor, I’ve tried my best to perform well and did all my homework. I can’t control whether or not the audience will like the type of drama.”

Never thought Wayne would be a Lamborghini fan. He seems very modest in style and don’t see him in such a flashy car. Also shocked by his choice of a 3,000 square feet apartment which must feel cavernous.
How is it shocking? Of course he’d want to live in a bigger space, plus 3,000 square feet isn’t exactly ‘cavernous’.
I am not too shocked since many people are like that. When they are down and don’t have much money or fame, they of course have to live modestly. However, once they have money, they would like to live more luxuriously. But it depends on the person too because some can be once poor and then become rich and still want to live modestly. It just depends on the person. Some would want to live continue their modest lifestyles while others would want to enjoy what they could not afford before.

I live in New York metro area where most apartment homes are 1,000 square feet. 3,000 square feet is cavernous by NYC and HK standards.

Those apartments wont even have room of family of 4 . In Hong Kong, cheapest is tiny cage home… very luxury.
That’s not true. Many Manhattan buildings have apartments of that size. I recently read an article in NYT about 2500-3000 sq feet condos renting for $25,000 to $30,000 a month. You can definitely find the space if you have the money.
You can find that size… just don’t live in high rent neighborhoods that is near the city.
If you have the money, space is not an issue.
When I used to live in HK, my apartment home was about 2800-3000 square feet…. I think I’d get claustrophobic in smaller areas (the downside of spending too much time living overseas i reckon!)

I didn’t know that Wayne used to live in Sham Tseng. It’s not a big town. I have never been to that town before by the way. Famous of the roasted gooses. Now Wayne’s living in Sheung Shui. I was born in downtown Sheung Shui AKA Shek Wu Hui! To be precisely I was born in Shek Wu Hui (Royal) Jockey Club Clinic. Our Man lineage village of San Tin is quite near Sheung Shui.
Since Wayne has a family, I’m sure he is either persuaded by his family to move, or he just wants to give better living conditions to his family. As a family man should do.
The lambo is a surprise though.

I am very happy for him. In many interviews of him which I watched, he and his son love car. I guess guys who love cars will normally go for something flashy and if money permits. As for living in a bigger house does make sense as he is a family man who does not have many hobbies. He also like to have family gathering where his sisters and brother plus nephews and nieces would definitely find it comfortable. At his age, i am sure he is planning ahead for retirement. having a comfortable place where he and his wife can look forward to a comfortable golden years is understandable.
I am so glad that he take action while he can afford. He loves his son so much that he plans everything for him but not pampering. I hope his son will grow up to be a good man!
