Wayne Lai Values Marriage and Will Not Focus on Mainland Market
TVB Anniversary production Overachievers <名門暗戰> will premiere on November 3. The cast consisting of Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Raymond Cho (曹永廉), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Grace Chan (陳凱琳), Maggie Shiu (邵美琪), and Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) appeared at a golfing tournament to promote the drama.
Excited that Overachievers will finally be airing next week, three-time TV King Wayne Lai is confident that the series will perform well. “Since the behind-the-scenes crew is the same team from The Confidant <大太監>, the level of standard is very high. It doesn’t matter [if I win Best Actor again] as I’ve won three times already and I’ve given myself the assurance. I hope that the viewers will find the show enjoyable. It’s been a long time since there was a drama about the battle between the riches; I hope that the series can provide a calming effect on the recent events in Hong Kong society.”
Asked to comment on Lawrence Ng‘s (吳啟華) divorce, Wayne felt that a couple will drift apart when they live separately. Waye said, “That’s why I will not aggressively pursue filming opportunities in Mainland China. When a man goes out to earn money for the family, it’s not good to be separated from his wife for a lengthy time. I’ve seen too many examples, so I insist on focusing on the Hong Kong market.”
No Jealousy For Raymond Wong’s Wife
In Overachievers, Nancy Wu develops a crush on Raymond Wong and will have many heated scenes with him throughout the series. On whether or not his wife would be jealous, Raymond responded that his wife understands and will not be unhappy. Raymond said, “How is that possible? I know Nancy very well.”
However, his 3-year-old son becomes upset whenever Raymond has intimate scenes with a female co-worker. Raymond revealed, “My son is not allowed to watch because when he saw me hugging a girl in Swipe Tap Love <愛我請留言>, he became very unhappy and cried.”

can’t for the end of the battle of tomorrow, show sucks.
totally agree.
don’t know what happened from episode 18 onwards…it is so boring.
actually what wayne said is very true…when the couple is separated for a long periods, the marriage will fizzle out. couples break up when loneliness sets in when separated.
Wayne doesn’t need the mainland market that’s for sure his already earning lots of money
when the man is committed to his wife and marriage, the relationship will be strong.
Lawrence’s wife is not a hongkonger, and he is not used to the mainland culture.
Homestly, even if he is earning a lot in Hk,I doubt it is anything nearly as much as anyone who is popular earns in China. Marriage may be a part of it but I think it is more because he does not have any market in Mainland.
Can’t wait to watch it!!!!
four atrocious actors in a row…
Wayne’s gotta be kidding. The theme of family infighting over wealth is so old school and done to death. I was bored just reading the synopsis. As for working in mainland or not, that depends on whether he’s got the market. I’m not sure if Wayne is popular in mainland but it doesn’t appear so. He’s not popular in Singapore or Malaysia either.
Raymond’s son is such a smart boy at 3 yrs old.
I think it could be both …… marriage and markets outside of Hong Kong.
Sorry, I only commented once. It did not accept my post and I had to do it again and again. As a result, my same post appeared three times.
I had a lot of problems posting comments on this website in the last few days. Either it did not accept my posts or my ID and email address were missing when I tried to post.
Me too. I wonder what is wrong with this site?
I agree totally with Wayne’s reasoning and hope that he keeps to it, that he will not indeed stay away from his wife for long periods of time. Besides, he has a son who needs his attention at his age. By stating what he did will now make people in HK support him more!
The truth is, Wayne has no market in Mainland.
It takes both to make a marriage work, distance is hard on any relationship, but it won’t necessary break it. If the marriage is strong, and both are committed, nothing can get in between it, however, if the marriage is not strong enough, closeness and togetherness, even join at the hip will not bind that relationship. He spoken like he’s a afraid his wife will cheat if he’s not around, or he will cheat if she’s not around. Even if opportunity arises in Mainland, it’s not like he’ll be away for years and years and not see his wife, they can always visit on long weekends and holidays.
True and honestly, you really wonder if Wayne is only staying in HK because he has no market in Mainland? Who would not want to make more money if the opportunitues arise? I agree that he would be away for years and years and who, said that husband and wife have to see each other every single day in order to have and maintain a strong marriage? Oftentimes your marriage is strong because you are apart and learn to treasure and value each other more.
Meant to say he would not be away for years and years.
Wayne forgot that he filmed Rear Mirror. Isn’t that about the feuding rich within the family as well? That drama was so darn boring and the family infighting was so tedious to watch.
