What’s Next For Owen Cheung After Winning Best Actor?

Starting off the Year of the Snake with a bang, Owen Cheung (張振朗) won his first TVB Best Actor award and the Malaysia Favorite TVB Actor award for No Room for Crime <反黑英雄>. Considered a dark horse winner, Owen was surprised by his own win.

Receiving the award from previous three-time Best Actor winners Gallen Lo (羅嘉良) and Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Owen felt a meaningful sense of legacy and the award being “passed down.” Although he did not feel he would be able to surpass Gallen or Wayne’s achievements, he hoped to travel his own path. “I may never get a Best Actor award again. Maybe my company would become listed in the future. I’d like to try my hand at business and seek out more opportunities. I’d like to seek out more possibilities to launch joint fashion items with brands.”

On No Room for Crime costar Elaine Yiu (姚子羚 referring to him as “TV King” prior to his official win, Owen joked he will now listen to whatever Elaine says. “I’m going to ask her to choose a few numbers me before I go buy lottery tickets.” When teased what he will do if Elaine tells him to get married, Owen replied, “I’ll have to question whether her words are true or not after all then!”

Dating Renci Yeung (楊偲泳) since 2020, the couple already moved in together and are in a stable relationship. On whether he will tie the knot, Owen replied, “Things will happen naturally. We’re both relaxed and chill people. When we do start thinking about marriage, then we’ll take the next steps. At this time, our careers come first.”

Working with Bowie Lam (林保怡) for the first time in D.I.D. 12 (刑偵12), Owen reflected, “Bowie was very playful. At the film set, he explored everywhere. He advised not to follow the script or memorize my lines. I had a good time during filming. I like to learn by watching him. I sat behind the camera while he was acting his scenes. When Bowie filmed tragic scenes, his acting skills were superb. He brought a lot of research materials and foreign films for me to watch. He taught me how to view things from different perspectives in order to act more realistically.”
