Why Kate Tsui Wants to Pursue a Master’s Degree in Psychology
Kate Tsui (徐子珊) has cut down on her workload in the recent years to focus on furthering her education. Due to having to balance school and work, she does not have time to date either.
“I haven’t focused on my romantic life for quite some time and my family has not Been giving me pressure. It’s great if you meet the right person but if not, it could turn into a big headache. I’ll leave it up to fate, you can’t force some things!” When asked if her lack of love life was due to high expectations, Kate explained that it is due to her personality. “My friends all say that I’m too serious about everything; whether it’s love or work. They feel that this is my weakness. But it’s hard to change my personality, and I don’t want to become someone that is not true to myself.”
Enrolled in Master’s Program
Since leaving TVB in 2015, Kate has opened herself to different opportunities. After taking jewelry design courses, Kate launched her own fine jewelry collection and the business is doing well.
Currently seen in web drama Guardian Angel <守護神之保險調查>, Kate believes there is still room for improvement in her acting. The 39-year-old is currently studying for a master’s degree in psychology and feels that it has helped her as an actress. It has given her the ability to analyze the characters that she portrays from different angles.
However, it did take a lot of courage for Kate to return to school. “I told myself to treat it as a new experience and to just give it a try. I had to interview and take admission tests, so it was like applying for Miss Hong Kong all over again! I was also worried that I would be treated differently as an artiste. Of course a lot of people knew who I was but when you’re in the school environment, no one really cares and you’re treated like everyone else. I’ve only encountered one or two instances where someone asked for my picture. Looking back, I realized that a lot of things went smoother than expected and that I was worrying too much.”
