Will Crystal Fung Leave TVB?

Miss Hong Kong 2016 winner and actress Crystal Fung‘s (馮盈盈) bold mannerisms and motormouth personality on TVB’s variety shows earned her unflattering labels. Despite rising up the ranks quickly after entering the industry, her star waned as she had few dramas to film for years, triggering Crystal’s decision to return to university, where she completed her Master’s in food and nutrition, while simultaneously pivoting to sharing educational and lifestyle-related contents on her own social channel!

Invited to Speak at Schools

Appearing at publicity event recently for TVB’s new program Yum Cha <飲茶>, she addressed swirling rumors that she was leaving TVB. “I will definitely carry on in this industry, being an artiste will forever be my profession, I will continue to develop myself and keep filming for shows,”

Asked to elaborate if she has any new plans or ventures in the pipelines, Crystal shared, “I am keen to have my own educational career and have my own company, and am now in the midst of preparing to start one. As for seminars, I’ll mostly share about my reflections on studying and career development, or topics related to dealing with academic stress, or psychological wellness,”

However, the 30-year-old did not give an upfront answer when asked if she has discussed her contract with management. “You’ll have to ask my manager about this,” When veteran Law Ka-ying (羅家英), who was also at the event, remarked that “The ones who don’t renew their contract are stupid”, Crystal was asked if she feels pressured to renew her contract, to which she reacted with mild embarrassment. “I guess my manager is the one who’ll be very stressed, on hearing this remark from Ka-ying gor”.

    1. She is actually very talented. She was runner up for Dub of war which tested voice acting abilities. Her performances were dead on. Seems like she has brains too. Unfortunately, HK audiences don’t like outgoing loud personalities if they are women so her rep wasn’t great. I think she could have got far if given better chances. Now we are stuck with ones like Hera Chan and Katy Kung.

  1. I always got the impression that Crystal Fung is smart and ambitious. I don’t necessarily think she has the same acting chops as those of her predecessors, but she’s still young. Many opportunities ahead of her journey. Wish her best of luck
