William Chan’s Wealthy Family Background
Love’s Ambition <許我耀眼> has started filming, casting the spotlight not just on female lead Rosy Zhao‘s (趙露思) abundant costume changes in the drama, but also on HK actor William Chan‘s (陳偉霆) portrayal as rich 2G Shen Hao Ming!
William’s Muscular Build Wins Over Fans
Although not many of William’s stills have been released, his handsome new styling in a floral white top and shades impressed netizens who labeled him a natural for the “bossy CEO” role, especially as they uncovered his real-life wealthy family background.
When he first made his debut as a singer and actor in Hong Kong, William failed to stand out among a sea of good-looking celebrities. To present better visuals on stage and on screen, he later shed his pretty boy image and developed a muscular physique through disciplined diet and exercise.
Garnering the attention of fans when he went topless in 2014’s The Mystic of Nine <老九門>, where he co-starred alongside actress Zanilia Zhao (趙麗穎), he gained a foothold in C-dramas, and in 2021’s Novoland: Pearl Eclipse <斛珠夫人> alongside Yang Mi (楊冪), he once again reciprocated fan support with topless scenes, reinforcing his muscular image in the hearts of audiences.
While much of the spotlight has been cast on Rosy’s breakthrough in Love’s Ambition, given that over 50 of her looks in set costumes have already been exposed since the drama started filming in June, with over a billion accumulated Weibo discussions around her character Xu Yan, William’s spot-on appearance as the attractive, rich 2G at a statuesque 1.82m and muscles beneath his sleek outfits have also elicited netizen excitement as they commented that he looks every bit the part of a rich 2G, and label him as a god-chosen ‘bossy CEO’ type.
Netizens uncovered that his family lives in two luxury apartments in Hong Kong’s upmarket Leighton Hill. His father was in the real estate business, his brother works in ocean shipping, while his sister runs a clothing business with several factories in Dubai. Although his father passed away early, the family’s wealth is not to be underestimated, as the former was once dubbed the ‘Wang Sicong (王思聰) of Hong Kong.’ William himself owns four luxury apartments in Hong Kong, making him a hidden tycoon in showbiz – evoking comments that his convincing portrayal might practically a “true-to-life” performance!

I may not be his fan but I respect hardworking people…he does not just sit on his butt and spend money.
What people do not understand: very very very few artists come from humble beginnings. This is NOT to question their work ethic but people with connections already have a foot in the door, which makes it easier. Chow Yun Fat literally sold fish in a village and made 20 HKD (less than $3 USD) per day before becoming a movie star. He had 0 connections. Rosy Zhao comes from a rich family as well. Charmaine She’s mother knew Eric Tsang before she entered Miss Hong Kong. Maybe not rich, but still connected.
