Winners List for 2011 TVB Anniversary Awards Leaked!
Kevin Cheng to Win Best Actor; Myolie Wu to Win Best Actress
As in the past, the TVB Anniversary Awards resulted in a fierce competition among the artists vying for the awards. According to reliable sources, the award results have finalized. “Laughing Sir” Michael Tse (謝天華) could not beat “rogue lawyer Law Ba” Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎). Michael will only receive the My Favorite Male Character Award while Kevin will receive the Best Actor Award. Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) will kick aside Fala Chen (陳法拉) to win the Best Actress Award. Fala will win the My Favorite Female Character Award instead.
The TVB Anniversary Awards will be held on December 5, 2011. The major awards will be a fight between TVB series, Lives of Omission <潛行狙擊> and Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>. At a recent high-level meeting, the “Ghetto Justice” faction beat the “Lives of Omission” faction and if nothing unexpected occurred, Kevin Cheng, who just renewed his contract with TVB, will win the TV King title!
An inside source at TVB revealed, “The production team and TVB executive management support Kevin in winning the award. They felt that he delivered a breakthrough performance. Although Michael will only be receiving a consolation award, the company felt that Michael will not be upset since he will be leading in the new Laughing Gor film.” In fact, Michael Tse already received wind of this year’s award results. Recently, Michael changed his tune and noted that he will be satisfied in receiving any award.
Ben Wong to Win Best Supporting Actor; Elena Kong to Win Best Supporting Actress
The Best Supporting Actor Award will be given to Ben Wong (黃智賢) and the Best Supporting Actress to Elena Kong (江美儀), who both appeared in Lives of Omission. As a first time semi-finalist in the awards, Ben has worked in the entertainment industry for 22 years, finally showcasing his talent. His character, which bordered on good and evil, won over the audience and netizens. An insider noted, “He is TVB’s ‘biological son’ thus Virginia Lok’s camp was more concerned. Ben also received fans’ and production staff support. He won support from all levels!”
On November 27th, a TVB manager arranged for Ben Wong to shop at sponsored jewelry stores in Tsim Sha Tsui and Tsuen Wan. Normally portraying good and honest characters, Ben was extremely happy that his evil “Spicy Ginger” character in Lives of Omission. “I put in a lot of effort to portray Spicy Ginger. I even adjusted the dialogue in my death scene. The character was very three-dimensional role. What made me the happiest was seeing Damien Lau (劉松仁) praise my acting on his blog!”

Although Jazz Lam (林子善) was originally a contender in the Best Supporting Actor Award, it has been decided that he will receive the Most Improved Male Artist Award instead. The Most Improved Female Artist Award will be a fight between Sire Ma (馬賽) and Cilla Lok (樂瞳).

Ben Wong also had a significant 3rd male lead role in Venture Against Time where Raymond WongHoYin was lead! Great series too if you like time traveling and series that keeps you guessing what happened in the past that lead to the future events.
I disagree that Ben Wong is only 3rd male lead. The 3 leads are co-lead on equal ground imo. If want to choose one lead for the series, I’ll choose Qin Han over Raymond Wong.
I can see most of this happening except I really can’t imagine Linda not winning for Favorite Character.
Also, I still think that Sharon would get the supporting actress award because both Stephen Chan and Ms Lok really like her.

From wat I see, it’s different. Mdm Jo is liked by the audiences, even more than Miss Koo because of its airing time. Personally, I don’t understand why because I think Mdm Jo is one of worst portrayal Fala ever had, but she is popular.
If TVB gives this award to Fala, I think they are harming her more than helping her. She already received a lot of backlash for getting Best Supporting for her mediocre performance in NR. If she takes this one over the popular miss Koo, people will turn even more against her.
Madam Jo is definitely without a doubt one of her worst characters. Also, she had more chemistry with Damian than MIchael!
I’m not sure about the harm :P. Fala is loved by the HK audience quite a lot and the LOO is also loved. So maybe she will survive after this.

Madam Jo isn’t that bad but Fala failed to make Madam Jo interesting. Fala look like a little kid.
I didn’t really like her character, and I think most people liked her and wanted to stay alive so that Laughing has a happy ending. Linda’s character is a lot more likable to me, and not just because of that one crying scene.
I blv in the list. Next seems to be correct in few past years with their list. Oriental is another source for the list.
So Linda is white hand on Fave Chac as predicted. I know that because Fala seems to be favoured than her in the recent years.
Omg if fala gets the favorite character award I will really stop watching tvb series! Her character is so not like able and I dot know how she’s gonna be in top 5 actress. Seriously tvb, it’s more of a popularity vote than best acting award. Also tvb recieved complaints about myolies poor acting so how could they give such award to her. I like myolie, but I don’t think she’s ready yet to receive that award.

Although Myolie is nominated for Curse, it’s obvious that if they give her the award, it’s for overall performance for the year since all her series have gotten pretty good ratings and she’s had mainly positive reviews.

I wish myolie would stop doing the quivering mouth in her crying scenes. She did it in both GJ and CotRH. Just cry w/ your mouth closed b/c her gwing look makes me laugh instead.
What about Maggie? I thought she did really well in FH3. I don’t think Myolie deserves the title “Best Actress” yet.
Maggie is not in promotion list anymore and her value is to TVB is lower than the younger actresses so no need to make her win
Other than Myolie, TVB dun have any secondary choice. It’s the matter. A clear victory to Myolie. And TVB awards is not a popularity award but a policy award :P.
this is a highly plausible list, i agree with most of them especially Jazz and Ben, but I hope Mandy wins the Most Improved, she is one of the better ones. I think Maggie Cheung should win the Best actress, as her acting is the most natural out of all those on the list. Isn’t Fala Chen suffering from facial paralysis, so isn’t she resting? Don’t TVB usually have the rule that if you don’t attend, you don’t get the award? So instead I think Linda will be getting it. And I kinda hoped that Bosco would get my favorite character or best actor. He has improved a lot recently and he made the entire Lives of Omission fun to watch!
Fala is still attending a number of functions. She only dun film series. She’ll appear in the TVB award, you can see.
Bosco is in top 5, tat’s best result to him. For best actor or fave chac, he dun stand for a chance because his value is still under other ppl this year.
tvbfanatic24, Bosco said he’s not clamoring for the award and he’s just happy that be accepted by his acting in LOO. He knows he won’t win based on the competition.
On a side note, Bosco is more focused towards his new business than all these awards. He spend a silent week in Malaysia since AOD awards and just got back yesterday to start the Lunar New Year film.

Started watching When Heaven Burns and breezed through the first five episodes already. Pity its not in the running for the awards because its fast becoming my favorite TVB series of the year and perhaps one of my fave series for the 2000s IF (and a very BIG IF) TVB does not screw up the promising start with draggy ridiculous plotlines in the middle and ridiculous rushed denouement at the end. And to keep this on topic, although Ben Wong only appeared in episode 1 and half of episode 2, my God, his performance really was superb. A class act in subtle and yet affecting acting conveyed through controlled facial expression and intonation. Quite different from the all out over the top complexity of Spicy Ginger.
Now I wanna watch. Am eyeing all the episodes already recorded. Tomorrow… tomorrow…

6. Best Supporting Actress – Nancy Wu, she has heaps of potential, will become Best Actress one day
7. Most Favourite Actress – Linda Chung, I like how she showed a greater range of acting ability in her Madam Koo role

The result is just as I predicted except for Best Supporting Actress. Kevin and Michael Tse obviously is a no brainer award. One of them will get the Best Actor and the other one will get ‘second place’ award Most Fav Character ROFL.
Best Actress is also a no brainer because from the way TVB start promoting her role in CORH its damn obvious TVB is making Myolie winning. In fact all the actresses are weak this year! Earghhh! I’m happy Ada and Sheren will come back for WAB2!

And I love Elena Kong, and I would be really happy if she wins Best Supporting Actress. She deserves all of this recognition. But I seriously think she should have won it last year. She gave such a great performance as Angela Auntie.
Elena Kong is a very versatile actress she can be a funny policewoman in Project Ji Xiang as Joey Meng’s sister. a respectful/kind doctor in A Lawyer Can Be Good. A crazy scary wife of Simon Yam in A Dream Named Desire that gave you the chills when she abuses her son in revenge of Simon having affair.
Definitely time to give Ben Wong an award. I dont remember him playing any good guy character….i thought he has always played the baddie and he plays it so well.
So, there is no award for bosco…, i like bosco’s acting as cripple co more than michael as laughing. Bosco’s acting is really mature, he delivered the role well.
I’m sorry but tvb awards have lost all credibility with me. These awards are only to either promote actors/actresses or used as an incentive to keep them in tvb. This has nothing to do with public votes anymore (well maybe except Kevin)!! And Fala really, Fala?! To be honest no real stand outs this year don’t know how some of these actors can be happy with the ‘awards’ they are getting when it’s all obviously rigged. ugh
The only good drama so far that has kept me going is When Heaven Burns. Definitely different from other CHEESY tvb dramas and can’t believe I’m saying this but nearly up to the standard of American dramas. A pity hong kong audience can’t appreciate real shows just coz it’s a little gory or different from happy-go-lucky dramas…sigh..
I shall be patient and wait till 5th Dec. to see and hear for myself the real results before saying anything more!
If this was based on real talent, Maggie Cheung would totally bagged Best Actress, Myolie and Fala wouldn’t even have a chance against her.

This was pretty much what I was predicting too except I thought that Linda would get the Favorite Character Award. I personally prefer Fala over Linda. Who knows…TVB might create another random award (like they did last yr for Moses…and I believe Tavia got one the yr before) and give it to whoever doesn’t get the Favorite Character award. Actually I think they give WAY too MANY chances for Kate- always sticking her in highly popular/promoted dramas like LOO, FH3 and most likely Truimph 2. I’m sick and tired of her.

Btw, isn’t the award MFFC based on POPULARITY? If that’s the case, I don’t see how it’s “impossible” for Fala to win it. Linda got her share of fame for her crying in YSSS while Fala did for her death in LOO. I believe both have an equal chance.
To be fair, Ms. Koo is no different than Linda’s previous characters. She was different in the beginning, but she was back to SJS after dating Moses. As for Fala – Madam Jo was a boring character bc she didn’t cross over to the dark side. Fala’s portrayal was alright. She might not be the best Madam, but it’s better than Kate’s portrayal in FH3. The award is based on CHARACTER. I think both Ms. Koo and Madam Jo are popular among the audience.
It’s interesting to see who will win. Both are loved by TVB. I wonder if TVB will sacrifice Linda to award Fala.

Kate is the worst in LOO. All I can remember is her kissing scenes . And just by looking at her face I want to puke. Lmfao. She look convincing cause she just kissed in that series ? I’m not a Fala’s fan but , I was looking forward to her scenes in LOO . And her acting is definitely MUCH better than Kate.
Why don’t they just give the awards to maggie cheung in FH3…more lovable than madam Jo. I think Linda did know that she will lose the awards to Fala and that’s maybe the reason of her absent in Gala Anniversary & Astro on Demand Awards even she said its because her family.

It’s obvious TVB love Fala more than Linda. TVB give Linda an idol drama to shoot for next year ROFL. TVB can never make a good idol drama! but TVB give Fala the female lead in TITS2 sharing with Myolie Wu!
I vote for Sunny Chan as My Favourite Character. Is it too late?
Sunny Chan had to portray a weak emperor, and he played the role to the hilt. You can say he completely assumed the role of a weakling – an emperor that the China couldn’t count on. I suppose history was against Emperor Daoguang and Sunny Chan is perfect for the role of the wimpy emperor. Sunny, who I believe has a sunny disposition in real life, was able portray the powerlessness and despondence of the emperor perfectly.
Daoguang’s flaws were for all to see. When you watch the series, you get angry at the emperor’s weakness and vulnerability, he being so easily seduced by the ladies of the court, for example by the character portrayed by Nancy Wu.
Sometimes, you feel sorry for him, for his humiliation at the hands of others. You are sad to see his personal pain for not being able to overcome his opium addiction.
At other times, you feel disgusted at his plain stupidity. You see stupidity at its best. You feel annoyed at Emperor Daoguang’s lack of understanding of the palace intriques and his inability to see through the corrupt officials and palace schemes. You feel distressed and are in horror at his inablility to distinguish between good and evil. But, you also feel happy for his kindness, and his love for his beloved court ladies, Myolie Wu and Jessica Hsuan.
Sunny Chan brings you along with him to the highs and lows of Emperor Daoguang’s life. He deserves not only a pat on the back but also an award for his convincing portrayal of a depressing character.

Sometimes I feel that many members of TVB’s audience are bias as they ignore some of the excellent veteran actors and actresses in favour of the young and handsome actors, and the beautiful and sexy actresses. Many of the veteran actors and actresses are brilliant and deserve more than a mere mention in reviews.
I have always thought that Cheung Kwok Keung is such a fine actor. I love his portrayal of the conniving, crafty and fawning eunuch in the “Curse of the Royal Harem”. They make a fine couple though the coupling is incongruous – such a stark contrast: a person of royalty and high standing versus a lowly subservient palace servant. But they do stand out as remarkable performers and as artistes who complement each other in their roles!
