Wong Cho Lam Confirms “Dub of War” Season 2
Dub of War <好聲好戲> aired its finale on May 28 with Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) winning the championship. The voice talent competition was hotly-discussed during its run, prompting TVB Creative Director Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) to plan for a second season.
However, there will be slight changes to the format. It likely will not air before the 2021 TVB Anniversary Awards as there are many new variety shows coming out. For the second season, Cho Lam said there are still many great voice actors who have not yet been showcased on the show. Cho Lam also plans to invite a voice artiste whom Anita Mui (梅艷芳) used exclusively for her dubbing work.
At the Dub of War mentor appreciation banquet held today, Yoyo expressed her surprise in winning the championship, as Crystal Fung (馮盈盈) and Owen Cheung (張振朗) were tough competitors. Initially, she joined the competition to give herself a challenge and to improve her voice delivery and acting. Her previous experience was only limited to dubbing her own roles on rare occasions in post-production edits.
Though Dub of War was an invaluable experience, and her daughter is proud of Yoyo’s achievement, the actress said, “The competition was really tough–I won’t be trying again in the near future.”
The show proved to be an opportunity for viewers to sit up and notice Yoyo’s talents. Liza Wang (汪明荃) also took notice, and had previously suggested to TVB that Yoyo should be cast in a leading dramatic role. Yoyo thanked Liza for her encouragement and willingness to speak up for her juniors. “Regardless whether this happens or not, I already feel very touched and satisfied. It would be great if I have an opportunity to collaborate with Liza in a drama.”

Yoyo Chen Wins Top Prize in “Dub of War”; Crystal Fung’s Emotions Spiral Out of Control
This was fun and refreshing to watch. I hope season two will be just as good. Yoyo was a deserving winner.
It’s time for Yoyo to shine, she has been living under her husband’s shadow for too long
@hayden Totally agree!! Looking forward to yoyo star treatment.
Haven’t been watching TV variety for a long time but this was interesting to watch. Glad that they are going to make season 2.
Yoyo deserved her win. FYY surprisingly was quite good as well in the earlier episodes which she may want to try her career in dubbing rather than acting or hosting.
