Wong Cho Lam Will Not Cast Girlfriend, Leanne Li, in New Drama
At the annual dinner for an enterpreneur group, Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) showcased his musical talent and famed mimcry skills. Singing Raymond Lam’s (林峰) Chok song, Cho Lam joked, “I am never allowed to sing my own songs! Perhaps next time when I release my new song, I may have to call it Chok 2!”
Earlier, it was revealed that Wong Cho Lam will be writing the script for an upcoming TVB, which incurred jealous complaints from the company’s scriptwriting department. Accused of assuming arbitrary power in his upcoming series, Cho Lam clarified this was not the case. “I will serve as the scriptwriter and handle the scriptwriting responsibilities.”
Cho Lam’s new role as TVB scriptwriter aroused curiosity as to whether he will be casting his girlfriend, Leanne Li (李亞男), in the upcoming drama. Cho Lam stated, “Business and personal matters are separate from each other.”

Jayne: I guess many of us are quick to jump to the assumption that Cho Lam will be using his new drama to promote Leanne and his friends.
Sad though. What if she is one talented lady suitable for the role? Why shouldn’t she be cast? On one hand some will accuse him of playing favourites and then there will be some who thinks or rather she thinks in his need to remain very impartial, her career is sacrificed. Very difficult position.
I agree. Tim Burton usually casts his partner, Helena Bonham Carter in his films although she stars opposite of Johnny Depp but if Leanne is suitable for the role then it’d be a shame not to cast her.
Actually I think Leane is a good actress. She has the potential in her and she is professional too. It would be a pity if they do not cast her just because afraid of being accused for playing favorite.
Leanne is just a pretty face but i don’t think she can act.
I couldn’t agree more! Leanne can’t act IMO.
I doubt that she really has a meaty role to show her acting.
I think she suits roles like of those rich gfs, spoiled daughter, mistress and etc since she got the face and body!

Moreover, she will have to work harder in her Cantonese. Many times I couldn’t understand her in drama series.
Christine Kuo is even worse in her Cantonese. I think it is harder for Mandarin-speaking persons to learn to speak Cantonese without any accent.
Fala Chen is the best artiste among them all. She was from Szechuan, China, and immigrated to the States when she was 14 years old. She could not speak Cantonese when she first went to Hong Kong.
But Fala does have a larger knowledge on the chinese language, so I guess learning Canto would be easier. Where since Leanne and Christine are more “shook sing mui” so learning Canto should be harder…
But I think that Fala has the acting abilities, where as the other two do not…no matter the canto…
Christine Kuo was 2009 MCI. Unfair to compare her grasp of Cantonese to Leanne or Fala, who have years on her.
True, but she will be placed in that category with Leanne…since she is that age…
I think WCL should move to another field, such as scriptwriting, production, or even singing. He is wasting his talents if he keeps portraying female characters.
Hello Wong,remember your girlfriends Leanne Li not even famous actress in TVB ,she just a kelefe like you in TVB ,however her acting is better than you ,you shall start with younger actress like Mandy Wong ,Sire Ma in your new drama and not those old grandmother actress like Liza Wang ,start your new drama by promote your friend Johnston Lee and he acting are 1000 times better than you ,is good you keep on writing scrip but please don’t act in TVB drama and movies again ,even kelefe acting skill are 10000 times better than you ,Mr wong.
Why shouldn’t he act? Just bc he isn’t good? Actually, I think he should act more, to improve his acting skill. If actors/actresses should quit acting just bc they’re bad, then they will never improve.
Maybe WCL is afraid his TV series will flop so not casting leanne is a good move! haha… Anyway she is doing show host stuff. It’s a better area for her. Her acting it’s very good.

Her acting is not that great yet becos’ she hasnt been given more roles.
