Wong Kar Wai’s New Drama to Film in April

Hu Ge and Ma Yili will star in the anticipated drama.

According to reports, a Jing An tourism representative revealed that filming for Chinese drama Blossoms <繁花> produced by Wong Kar Wai (王家卫) and starring Hu Ge (胡歌) and Ma Yili (马伊琍), will kick off soon in Zhangyuan, Shanghai.

A book-to-screen adaptation, Blossoms is based on an acclaimed novel of the same name by Chinese novelist Jin Yucheng (金宇澄). The novel paints a portrait of Shanghai across two time periods through the life of its protagonist, A’bao

Director Yan Shen (沈严) had previously helmed dramas including The First Half of My Life <我的前半生>, The Rise of Phoenixes <天盛長歌> and Chinese Style Relationship <中國式關係>.

Official sources said that the film version, previously postponed due to Covid-19, is definitely in the works but no start date has been confirmed at the moment.
