Wu Jinyan Fans Are Now Criticizing Nie Yuen for Teaching Her About Acting
When there is demand, there is usually supply, so it isn’t a surprise to see Wu Jinyan (吴谨言) and Nie Yuan (聂远) teaming up again for their new drama, Happiness Will Still Knock At Your Door <幸福还会来敲门>. The onscreen couple have previously collaborated on Story of Yanxi Palace <延禧攻略> and The Legend of Haolan <皓镧传>, both ratings hits, and both produced by Yu Zheng (于正).
Truthfully, Happiness wasn’t at all very well-received when the casting was first announced. Wu Jinyan fans weren’t very happy with the storyline, with some of them saying that they will boycott the show. According to those fans, the show does nothing but put Wu Jinyan three steps back in her budding acting career.
And the drama is still generating controversy. Happiness has already started filming, and behind-the-scenes reels are also popping up. In one BTS footage, Nie Yuan and Wu Jinyan were seen in a serious discussion. They were holding their scripts, seemingly rehearsing and preparing for their upcoming scene. The footage was meant to show the actors’ dedication behind the camera, but instead, it angered many Wu Jinyan fans.
The fans voiced out their disappointment and anger at Nie Yuan for “scolding” Wu Jinyan about acting, saying that he had already “exceeded his boundaries” as an actor and was lecturing Wu Jinyan like a director. Some them had even harsher words to say, pointing out that Nie Yuan “isn’t even qualified” to teach Wu Jinyan anything as he has no awards to back himself up.
But not all Wu Jinyan fans are unreasonable. Those fans defended Nie Yuan, saying that the two were only discussion about the script. Nie Yuan is also a senior, with more experience, so it is normal for a senior actor like Nie Yuan to help out Wu Jinyan, offering her tips and advice.
