Xiao Zhan Gets Injured On Set of “The Legend of Condor Heroes”

Starring in acclaimed director Tsui Hark‘s (徐克) movie The Legend of Condor Heroes: The Great Hero <射鵰英雄傳：俠之大者>, popular idol Sean Xiao Zhan (肖戰) plays protagonist Guo Jing (郭靖), in an hugely anticipated role.

Filming Mishaps

Touted as the male star with the best looks to lead historical drama series, Xiao Zhan’s upcoming wuxia movie is set for a January 29th release — the first day of Lunar New Year, while character posters and videos have also dropped!

In preparation for his role, Sean had to practise horse riding, as well as intensify his martial arts training. To make himself more convincing for his iconic role, Xiao Zhan reportedly gained 10kg to appear bulkier onscreen.

In a recent lunar new year greeting video featuring Xiao Zhan and the director Tsui Hark, sharp-eyed netizens noticed a horizontal scar on Xiao Zhan’s arm and injuries near his left eye.

While he did not mention it, the 33-year-old reportedly had to get seven stitches to his eye from a mishap during one of his fighting scenes, which left the scar.

In an earlier video, Xiao Zhan also shared his horse-riding experience on set, in which he revealed that the horse he rode on set had been carefully selected from thousands of horses by director Tsui Hark.

“Little red horse” was only 2 years old at the time, and had a rebellious personality. While getting along with the horse was not smooth at first, Xiao Zhan successfully tamed the arrogant horse after two months of hard work. The animal eventually showed excellent tacit understanding in front of the camera and successfully completed the shooting.
