Xiao Zhan to Film New Movie with Shu Qi
Completing filming Zang Hai Zhuan <藏海傳> last month, Xiao Zhan (肖戰) took a quick break before commencing filming for his new movie Be Cautious <得閑謹制>. This is the first movie for Daylight Entertainment Co., Ltd, the leading producer of Chinese dramas. The movie is directed by Kong Sheng (孔笙), who is known for his work in Nirvana in Fire <琅琊榜>. Hou Hong Liang (侯鴻亮), who directed The Story of Minglan <知否>, is the producer. Many are looking forward to the collaboration between the two industry heavyweights.
When Xiao Zhan was filming for Zang Hai Zhuan, he wore a long, black down jacket every day in order to prevent leaking drama details. Filming during the hot summer months, he wore a gray windbreaker and shorts instead. He wore the same windbreaker every day as he was careful to not leak costume details.
Right after completing Be Cautious, Xiao Zhan will be taking on a new role in renowned director Philip Yung’s (翁子光) movie My Answer <我的答案>. The story follows a prosecutor who faces huge pressure from public opinion created by the criminal suspect and their defense team. After careful investigation, he obtained irrefutable evidence and prosecuted other criminals who were missed. This led to him successfully making the criminal suspect plead guilty in court.
Unexpectedly, Xiao Zhan will portray the suspect, marking the first time in his nine-year career where he plays the antagonist. The female lead will be Shu Qi (舒淇), whom he met in 2015’s talent show X FIRE <選秀節目>. At the time, Xiao Zhan was still a shy, novice trainee and Shu Qi was his acting mentor. After the show ended, the two maintained their friendship and were spotted interacting enthusiastically several times. Netizens are very excited to see them work together again.
