Xu Kai and Ether Yu To Lead “Sword and Fairy”

Chinese actor Xu Kai (許凱) has signed on to star in wuxia drama Sword and Fairy 6 alongside Esther Yu (虞書欣).

The drama follows Yue Jin Zhao (Xu Kai) and Yue Qi (Esther Yu) as they set out to explore the world. In a fated encounter, Yue Jin Zhao and Yue Qi meets the Luo Zhaoyin, the young master of the Luo Cult and discover that Yue Qi’s birth mother is the powerful mistress of the Kunpeng Valley who is has been causing havoc on the area’s resident. Yue Qi now faces a painful choice between choosing her family or fighting for her values.

Many fans are excited to see Xu Kai and Esther’s chemistry and they are interested in seeing Esther lead a wuxia drama. Although Esther was often criticized for being overly dramatic, the actress turned her career around after starring in 2020’s drama Find Yourself <下一站是幸福> and was nominated for the “Actress of the Year” at the Golden Eagle Award.

Meanwhile, netizens notice that Xu Kai has many dramas lined up.  The actor is set to appear in upcoming dramas Snow Eagle Lord <雪鷹領主> and She and Her Perfect Husband <愛的二八定律>. With a busy schedule, fans are asking Xu Kai to slow it down while they make time to watch his dramas.
