Xu Kai’s “Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain” Airs

Xu Kai’s (许凯) new costume drama Once Upon A Time There Was Lingjian Mountain <从前有座灵剑山> aired on platforms iQiyi and Tencent on November 12. Other casts include Sandrine Pinna (张榕容), Ryan Zhu (朱元冰), Gao Yuer (高雨儿), Cristy Guo (郭晓婷) and Zheng Yawen (郑雅文). With its youthful line-up and carefully planned aesthetics, the drama is expected to draw great interest from viewers.

Once Upon A Time There Was Lingjian Mountain presents a different style of approaching the xianxia genre. Based on a graphic novel Lingjian Mountain written by Xian Man Dong Man, the story revolves around a young and intelligent man Wang Lu (played by Xu Kai) joining the Spirit Blade Sect to work on his immortal cultivation. He becomes the student of the beautiful and sharp-tongued Wang Wu (played by Sandrine Pinna) during their journey full of perils.

The attractive visuals, including the costume design, have raised expectations of the drama. The character designs enable Xu Kai and Sandrine to break off from their previous star-making roles in The Story of Yanxi Palace <延禧攻略> and Legend of the Demon Cat <妖猫传> and allow viewers to see their potential in portraying dynamic and lively characters.
