Yang Mi Makes Cameo Appearance in “Eternal Love of Dream”
Since the hit Chinese drama Eternal Love <三生三世十里桃花> finished broadcasting in 2017, fans have been looking forward to the sequel, Eternal Love of Dream <三生三世枕上書>, also known as Three Lives, Three Worlds: The Pillow Book. Despite the initial buzz, viewers expressed disappointment with the spin-off series because of the predictable storyline. However, the audience was thrilled to see Yang Mi (楊冪) make a cameo appearance, which sparked a hot topic online and allowed fans to reminisce about the first season.
In Eternal Love, Yang Mi played Mark Zhao‘s (趙又廷) romantic interest. Their characters experienced times of happiness and struggles across three lifetimes and worlds. After overcoming great hardships, they finally basked in their happily ever after in the peach blossom forest. Still, fans wished the story ended with a ceremonial marriage scene for better closure.
Granting their wishes, Yang Mi reprised her role as Bai Qian and made an appearance in the sequel that shows herself returning to her home in Qingqiu. Wearing a white phoenix crown while dressed in a matching beautiful white wedding dress, she prepares for the grand wedding ceremony in which she bids goodbye to her parents before she officially marries into the heavenly palace.
Although some viewers were disappointed that Mark didn’t make an appearance, many were still glad to see Yang Mi and Mark’s story continue. The audience noted they finally received a proper ending for the duo after three years. They left messages like, “We finally got to see her after waiting for such a long time” and “Making me remember the days of chasing after the episodes three years ago.”
