Yang Mi Reunites with Mark Chao in “The People I Love”

After costarring in 2017’s Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花), both Yang Mi (楊冪) and Mark Chao (趙又廷) enjoyed a popularity boost due to their onscreen chemistry. Although one of the highest-earning actresses in China, Yang Mi has seen a dip in popularity in recent years after poor ratings in her dramas. While 2024’s Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact (狐妖小红娘月红篇) was a big-budget production, her chemistry with Gong Jun (龚俊) was lacking.
Hoping to regain some traction in her career, Yang Mi will once again pair up with Mark Chao in the upcoming drama The People I Love (我愛的那些人). The drama is adapted from the Japanese drama, Omameda Towako and Her Three Ex-Husbands, and tells the story of a 39-year-old woman who goes through three peaceful divorces. Despite this, she is still full of vigor for life. As a relatively known interior designer, she is faced with many complicated issues to resolve. At the same time, all three of her ex-husbands are seeking to reconcile with her for different reasons. Having to navigate the difficulties of her business and her relationships, Yang Mi’s character goes through a journey of self-reflection and learning.
In addition to being excited for Yang Mi and Mark Chao’s onscreen reunion, fans also feel Yang Mi is portraying an age-appropriate role and are eager to see how she performs. The People I Love may be the drama that will revive Yang Mi’s career.
