Yoyo Chen Reverses Performance to Win “Top Sales”

After receiving brickbats for her poor live-selling performance previously, Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) turned the tables to beat biggest competitor Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿) and won the finals of live-format reality show Top Sales <識貨>!

Yoyo Proves Herself

The finals saw Lok Yi and Yoyo go through an intense one and a half-hour competition, during which the two had to get the trainee live sellers and celebrity guests to give up their lowest priced goods for them to sell at the finals.

Perhaps due to Yoyo being nervous, serious and hardworking all along, the guest stars seemed especially supportive of her, and many chose to give their goods to her. This enabled Yoyo to turn the tides and achieve nearly $100,0000 Hong Kong dollars sales within half an hour, defeating Lok Yi to emerge as champion liveseller – and breaking the stereotype of “beautiful women aren’t good live sellers”!

Despite her numerous obstacles and tests before being announced as champion, Yoyo did not react emotionally unlike the first time when she had teared up, and simply remained jovial throughout her victory this time. The actress said, “Ever since I screamed that first time, I told myself that I would repeat that again.”

Close to 100 cast and crew members congratulated Yoyo and gave her hugs, while TVB creative director Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), who delivered the results also announced that season 2 of the program is likely.

Cho Lam Wants to “Freeze” Her?

Adding the liveselling variety show title to her recent win in  Dub-of-war <好聲好戲>, Yoyo got teased for being “Variety Queen,” with Cho Lam and Lok Yi teaming up to make fun of her recent spate of good fortune. Cho Lam said she should consider going for Best Actress title or even that of Mr. Hong Kong. Cho Lam bantered, “I had really considered doing a Mr. Hong Kong contest for her! She might just come on stage with a moustache and be a hot candidate to win the pageant.”

Adding that Yoyo has been overexposed recently, Cho-Lam said he is contemplating “freezing” the actress, to which Lok Yi readily agreed, commenting she might benefit from the novel experience. Responding to the teasing, Yoyo helplessly gestured that she would give the two a good beating.
