“Yun Zhong Ge” To Air Last Episode This Monday
The final episode of Chinese period drama Yun Zhong Ge <大汉情缘之云中歌> will be airing this Sunday on Hunan TV. Produced by Yu Zheng (于正), the drama is an adaptation of the Tong Hua (桐华) novel Song In the Clouds <云中歌>, a romance that follows an orphan girl and her unforgettable journey with an emperor and a royal physician during the Western Han Dynasty.
In the latest episode that aired on last Monday, Yun Ge (Angelababy 杨颖) steals the tiger tally, a royal piece used to command armed forces, from Emperor Xuan (Chen Xiao 陈晓) while he was drunk and asleep. Her close friend, the eunuch Yu An (Liu Guanxiang 刘冠翔) uses the tally to save her brother Yun Yi (Ao Xiang 敖翔) from prison. Although Yun Ge returns the tiger tally, the Emperor hears about about Yun Yi’s prison break and immediately assumes that it was Meng Jue (Du Chun 杜淳), Yun Ge’s husband, who led the escape. The Emperor orders the capture of Meng Jue and manages to impale him with an arrow. Yun Ge rushes to Meng Jue’s aid, also learning that he had a hand in helping her brother escape. Although Yun Ge initially married Meng Jue out of revenge, she realizes that she has fallen in love with him.
The upcoming episode will see a more dramatic turn, as the Emperor discovers that his wife Xu Pingjun (Su Qing 苏青) was the one who told Yun Ge about the location of the tiger tally. His heart broken by her betrayal, the Emperor viciously slaps Pingjun.
Although not the drama’s main focus, Emperor Xuan and Xu Pingjun are a favorite couple among fans. The Emperor, who was banished to live as a commoner when he was a child, relied on Pingjun and her family when he was still living in the streets. Their love was tested through time and trials.
According to history, Pingjun is eventually poisoned to death by the Huo family, but many fans expressed their hope for the drama to change the story to a happier ending for their favorite couple.
Yun Zhong Ge’s last episode will air on November 23.

“Although not the drama’s main focus, Emperor Wu and Xu Pingjun are a favorite couple among fans.”
Typo mistake here. Should be Emperor Xuan.
