Zhang Ziyi and Carina Lau Attend New York’s Met Ball
The Met Ball is an annual celebration at the Metropolitan Museum’s The Costume Institute in New York City. Every year in May, hundreds of thousands of international film and fashion stars such as Madonna and Beyoncé attend the event dubbed as the fashion industry’s Oscar party. Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) and Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) were invited to the ball this year by luxury brand, Lane Crawford. Maggie Q was also in attendance. The women shared a fantastic evening together and shared many event photos on their Weibo accounts.
The ball took place Monday evening inside the world-famous museum. Zhang Ziyi is no stranger to the event, having attended at least three times in the past. Ziyi walked the red carpet this year in a stunning red lace dress designed by Jason Wu, who is famous for dressing United States First Lady, Michelle Obama. The form-fitting strapless dress complemented Ziyi’s slim physique and represented the perfect balance of east and west through its color and style. Ziyi completed her outfit with Christian Louboutin shoes and a Jimmy Choo Swarovski-studded clutch. The actress happily posed for photos, looking absolutely radiant.
Carina opted for something fun and wore a Miu Miu black dress that showed off her arms and legs. The dress also features a slit in the front, adding a hint of sexiness. Carina is currently busy promoting her film Bends <過界>, for which she was nominated as Best Actress at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The actress is also scheduled to film the movie version of Beijing Love Story <北京愛情故事> in Greece this summer, along with actor Tony Leung Ka Fai (梁家輝).
Ziyi and Carina stayed with each other throughout most of the night, busy taking photos together. The two also met up with Ziyi’s friend and business partner, Wendi Deng (鄧文迪), who treated the actresses to a late night meal of homemade beef noodles.
On Weibo, Ziyi posted a close-up photo of herself and Carina at the party. Along with the picture she posted, “Gong Er finally meets Mr. Ip’s wife”, alluding to her role in the hit film The Grandmaster <一代宗師>. Playing along, Carina also referenced the film and used a direct quote, “All the meetings in the world are simply long-awaited reunions.”

yep its her, not a nice lady, but definitely knows what she wants and gets it. She is the wife of a rich and powerful very old man so yes she was there no surprise.
