Zhao Lusi Appears in New Versace Photoshoot

After Love Like the Galaxy <星漢燦爛•月升滄海> cemented her stardom, Rosy Zhao Lusi (赵露思) was in high demand from advertisers and she became an ambassador for Versace last year. Since becoming a spokesperson for the brand, the actress turned to more sultry outfits and makeup looks which were met with mixed reactions.

At a recent event held by Versace in Macau, Zhao Lusi wore a skintight pink top that seemed a size too small. As opposed to her girl-next-door image, she paired her look with smokey eyes and long hair extensions. The proportions of her outfit and hairstyle, as well as the overstated makeup seemed uncoordinated and mismatched. Many felt Versace’s more westernized style is incompatible with Zhao Lusi youthful and sweet appearance.

Recently, the brand released Zhao Lusi’s latest endorsement photos for the spring collection. In the photo, the actress wore a dusty pink dress with her head thrown back and right foot directly on the wall. The pose appeared awkward. Furthermore, her heavy makeup made her nearly unrecognizable and conflicted with her youth. This reinforced the public’s opinion that the brand’s style was a mismatch for Zhao Lusi’s image.

Although her outfit and makeup were criticized by netizens, Zhao Lusi was rated one of the best looks of the month by Vogue magazine. Her fans also praised her transformation, believing the 25-year-old is hoping to diversify her image and adopt more mature looks in order to shed her girl-next-door persona.
