Zhao Lusi Is Chosen to Carry Olympic Torch
Enjoying smooth career success in recent years, drama goddess Rosy Zhao Lusi (趙露思) is set to add another line to her resume as the actress has been announced as part of the Olympic torchbearers line-up!
The 25-year-old has starred in a string of hit dramas The Last Immortal <神隱>, Hidden Love <偷偷藏不住> and Love Like the Galaxy <星漢燦爛>. Playing her part in an important moment in the sporting extravaganza, Zhao Lusi is the only non-French torchbearer in the Gers stop of the Olympic relay, and the only Asian celebrity among the 11,000 torchbearers announced.
While the Paris Olympics is still some time away, the torch relay has already begun on April 16 in ancient Olympia, and has arrived in Marseille, the first stop of its journey across France. Zhao Lusi is set to be in the French city of Gers on May 18 to 19 to carry and pass the Olympic flame – expected to reach Paris on July 26, when the opening ceremony is scheduled. According to the Olympics website, torchbearers were “selected based on their commitment, dedication and how they embody at least one of the core tenets of Paris 2024”.
Zhao Lusi’s past appointment as the Chinese youth image ambassador for the Olympic journey 10 years back also made news, with an old photo showing a young, beaming Zhao Lusi holding mascot merchandise resurfacing on social media. Winning compliments back then for being immensely adorable, she is heaped with yet more praise recently, on exciting news of being selected to bear the torch.
On the Drama Front
Following the success of The Last Immortal, Zhao Lusi’s second onscreen pairing with Liu Yuning (劉宇寧) in The Story of Pearl Girl <珠簾玉幕> is also highly anticipated by fans and viewers. Having wrapped filming for the costume drama, she hurriedly joined her family on vacation, and won praise from netizens for being extraordinarily good-looking along with her dad, in a photo capturing the father-daughter pair. Garnering a wide fan base, fans from various regions, including royalty have fallen under her charms, with the latest being 13-year-old Cambodian princess said to be her diehard fan, who was touched to tears on receiving an autographed photo of the star from a Chinese host.
