Sparking heated discussions after she was hospitalized in December 2024 for sudden illness, popular actress Rosy Zhao Lusi‘s (趙露思) mental health and exploitation by her manager and agency were thrown under the spotlight.

Another Heartbreaking Footage Circulates

Recently surfaced, revealing footage of a livestream the actress did for The Story of Pearl Girl <珠簾玉幕> in which her hands appeared to tremble involuntarily, hinted that she might have already taken ill in November of 2024. The livestream, taken before her hospitalization, showed the actress knitting her brows after her left hand spasmed, as she likely blamed herself for her poor physical condition.

She recently resumed work, filming for the variety show Little Courage <小小的勇氣>, while fans were more than elated to learn that their idol is set to part ways with Tianjin Galaxy Cool Entertainment Culture Media Co.Ltd, after she completes filming for the romance Almost Lover <戀人> next!

Rosy’s Sudden Illness Shone a Light on Years of Mistreatment

She had been hospitalized during the filming of Almost Lover co-starring The Tale of Rose‘s <玫瑰的故事> Peng Guanying (彭冠英), and was later spotted looking shockingly frail and skinny in a wheelchair. The drama’s production team quickly called a halt to filming.

Back then, her agency also announced the suspension of all of the actress’s activities, while it is revealed that Zhao Lusi suffered from depression and aphasia. Admitting to years of mental and physical abuse, it was revealed that she needed long-term rehabilitation as she had difficulties walking steadily or even holding a spoon.

Thankfully, the support of her family and friends helped her pull through a difficult chapter as Zhao Lusi made small but gradual progress on her brave recovery. Determined, the actress stayed positive and shared milestones such as being able to walk again, though with the support of crutches.

After the actress fell sick, her agency came under scrutiny for their long-term mistreatment of the post-95 flower. Many artistes whom it signed on failed to rise up the popularity charts. With her contract ending this year, and Galaxy Cool Entertainment being one of the investors for Almost Lover, it was evident that the agency had tried to squeeze every ounce of value they could from Rosy, their flagship artist. Galaxy Cool Entertainment, which had denied exploiting her, did not make any public statements at all when Rosy resumed work.
