“Bu Bu Jing Qing” Broadcast Date Has Not Been Determined Yet

News circulated earlier this week that Bu Bu Jing Qing <步步惊情>, the sequel to the hit time traveling series Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步惊心>, will make its premiere on Hunan TV on March 9, 2014. However, the air date may have been spread by overeager anticipation of the drama’s broadcast and was clarified that it will not take place next week.

One of Asia’s most successful television series of 2011, Bu Bu Jing Xin brought unprecedented fame to its lead stars Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗), Nicky Wu (吳奇隆), and Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), turning them into the highest-paid actors in China. Bu Bu Jing Xin was adapted from the novel of the same name by Tong Hua (桐华), best known for her historical romance novels Ballad of the Desert <大漠谣> and Song in the Clouds <云中歌>, both which have been adapted to television dramas.

Bu Bu Jing Qing commenced production in Tianjin in March 2013 and completed its filming by June 2013 in Hong Kong. The 40-episode drama sees the return of original cast members Cecilia Liu, Nicky Wu, Damian Lau (劉松仁), Annie Liu (劉心悠) and introduces new cast members Sun Yizhou (孙艺洲), Chen Xiang (陈翔), and Jiang Jinfu (蒋劲夫).

The sequel will continue its story about the time traveling protagonist Zhang Xiao (Cecilia Liu), who returns to her own time after the death of her past identity, Ma’ertai Ruoxi. By chance, she meets the dignified Yin Zheng (Nicky Wu), the heir of Zhentian Corporations. He physically resembles Emperor Yongzheng, and Zhang Xiao is immediately drawn to him. She lands a job at Zhentian as a designer and develops an ambiguous relationship with Yin Zheng. The kind and caring Kang Sihan (Sun Yizhou) also makes an entrance, breaking her world with Yin Zheng.

Taiwanese band Mayday (五月天) performs and co-wrote the drama’s theme song “Every Step” <步步>, a rock ballad that showcases the drama’s modern and cosmopolitan style.

Post-production for Bu Bu Jing Qing has been completed, but a television broadcast date has not been determined yet.

Note: This article was updated on March 5, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. to clarify that “Bu Bu Jing Qing” will not be airing on March 9, 2014. Its broadcast date has not been determined yet.

Agree, China’s modern series is not my cup of tea. But you should try to watch Sop Queen. Its great and one of the best drama in latest years. I think this was an exception, might be because its a joint production between Taiwan and China? Half of the crew was from Taiwan too.

    2. Please tell me that this article is CORRECT – that BBJQ will be aired in Hunan, China on 3/9/14. Please don’t make us wait any longer.

    3. Well, if they don’t air it now, it won’t be necessarily a bad thing! I rather have it broadcast sometime during June-August where I don’t need to worry about school and my grades xD

      But that wait… =.=

      1. March is much better than June. Three more months will be too long to wait. You can still watch it, but keep it under control so it won’t hurt your grades. 🙂

      2. Maybe. (:

    1. This series is not even aired yet so how can it have a DVD set out? Unless it is a cheap quality bootleg one. But if there is a bootleg one out, it will not have English subs. You will have to be patient and wait for it to air and official versions to release.
