Chilam Cheung Asked for Playboy Role in “Triumph in the Skies 2”
TVB pilot drama, Triumph in the Skies 2 <冲上云霄II>, peaked at 35 ratings points in its premiere episode. Playboy pilot, Jayden Cool, played by Chilam Cheung (张智霖) received the most attention since the drama aired this week. According to the show’s producer, it was Chilam himself who requested that his character is a cool ladykiller.
Chilam’s pilot character already received much favorable response from the viewers despite his cheekiness and his myriad flowery lines. Chilam’s character was shown to be involved with Oceane Zhu (朱璇) and Sharon Chan (陳敏之). While co-star Ron Ng (吴卓羲) blatantly criticized Hong Kong women, Chilam on the other hand, praised them, “I feel that every woman is God’s creation. They can never be replaced in the world as every one of them is so lovely. I will treat their every smile and even every tear drop as a piece of art,” and that likely touched the female audience.
Producer Au Koon Ying (歐冠英) revealed that because Chilam he wanted his character to be totally different from his real-life personality, Chilam asked to play a cool ladies’ man. The result proved to be a hit.
Chilam said, “I want to create a romantic pilot, but I don’t want him to be obscene. I never expected the response to be so good. This is definitely an encouragement from the viewers.”
Reduced to Supporting Role?
In related news, Myolie Wu (胡杏儿) who was in Beijing to promote her new drama, If I Never Loved You <如果不曾爱过你>, was asked by the reporters if it was true that her scenes in Triumph in the Skies 2 were cut to give more screen time to Fala Chen (陳法拉), thereby delegating Myolie to a supporting role. Myolie said, “There’s no such matter.”

Chi lam has the best role in the series but it also takes a good actor to do a good job
chilam is amazing and too handsome and cool in the series! that means chilam did a great job! loving chilam more than sam now
although fala has more screentime myolie still act much better and is more interesting to watch and is still a lead! myolie is graceful enough to deny that fala was given more screentime to promote her.

And I think Fala and Myolie both have the same exposure. I think it may have been the script or the storyline that delayed Myolie’s entrace into that drama.

Chi Lam looks younger than both Ron & Kenneth in most of the scenes which is funny!

Chilam can play the handsome playboy role in TITS 2 because of his face and his personality. Kenneth and Ron can’t even though they are younger and as good looking as Chilam.

why does everyone say kenneth ma is young? he’s actually nearing 40. & I heard that since ma ming will be involved with elena kong, a lot of people that’s weird because of the age but they are surprisingly only 3 years apart

As good looking as Chilam? You blind. The wrinkles in Kenneth Ma’s face is as Elizabeth II’s butt and Ron Ng is the Wood King. They can’t be a finger of Chilam.

I will probably get ripped apart for saying this, but I don’t think Chilam is suitable for the playboy role at all. It always seems like he’s trying way too hard…he’s not good looking enough, not smooth enough…just not enough! Think Simon Yam, he’s a convincing playboy. It’s not just the looks, but the attitude, and Chilam just doesn’t have it.
I wouldn’t say that he’s a playboy, just very flirty around women.
Chilam has a good role I can’t wait to see more of it … however I think Francis is still the best after taking this role ten years later wow he does it so perfect, as if the TITS1 was only aired a few month ago, he plays Samuel so well!

Jayden is too invidious for my liking. Makes him look so petty and insecure around Sam even though the character has so much confidence in himself around women. Maybe Jayden has an inferiority complex.
