Linda Chung Fainted During Filming Due to Declining Health
Since her debut in 2004, Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) has been one of TVB’s favorite fadans. During her busiest year, Linda filmed six series back-to-back. Due to the heavy workload and lack of rest, Linda’s health has declined in recent years. While filming All That Is Bitter Is Sweet <大藥坊>, Linda’s health finally broke down and she fainted on the set.
Linda had trouble exerting too much energy and raising her voice, which causes her to become light-headed. “All That is Bitter is Sweet was a challenge for me because I rarely film period dramas. This is my first time playing a pharmacist. Since there are a lot of medical terms recite, the script is even harder than those of historical dramas. I spent three to four times more effort for this role and I felt really tired.
“During filming, I had to also fly to Korea to film A Time of Love <愛情來的時候>. Perhaps due to the cold weather, I became sick with a fever, stuffy nose and coughing. I didn’t have time to treat it and I’ve been sick since then. Continuing to film All That is Bitter is Sweet, my eyesight became blurry and the condition lasted for two to three weeks. At first, I thought it was my vision getting worse, but then I fainted in the studio one day. I knew that my eyes were the final warning for my worsening health,” Linda recalled.
Fortunately for Linda, she had a lot of support and care when her health was at her lowest point. Colleagues Shirley Yeung (楊思琦) and Raymond Wong (黃浩然) looked after her. Du Yan Ge (杜燕歌), who portrays Linda’s onscreen father, often brought her nutritious snacks. Worried about their daughter’s deteriorating health, Linda’s parents also repeatedly told her to take a break to rest more as her body is not a machine.

So this explains why her performance was subpar?
More like her excuse
Yup, hard for anyone to perform when not feeling well (not to mention also composing songs and other extras). But, she still showed much improvement from her other period drama. Support Linda Chung!!!
She did not mention Ruco Chan this time.
Probably because she didn’t want to stir more rumours with him. I don’t see why she won’t accept him 🙁
Anyway Ruco has had it worse- water retention during this drama, and in Captain of Destiny (urgh) he has to deal with horrible working conditions like in atf.
Captain of Destiny?
Cheung Po Tsai’s official english name.
So basically she better win BA for all she’s done?
Chermaine better win. That scene where she saw her 3 mothers died was 100x better than any fadans can dream of doing.
She should take a break like Fala.
Yes she should because all of the money and fame in the world cannot but back your health. I remember Jessica Hsuen getting really ill from overworking and even said that even 100 million dollars cannot buy her health. Linda should take a rest and come back to Canada to see her family.
Why the heck are my comments under moderation? This is really ridiculous.
Really? That’s really weird and the disgusting comments keep appearing…
Meant to say buy.
How was her performance in A Time of Love? She seemed pretty adorable in the trailer.
Whatever your occupation may be, whether you are an actor/actress, nurse, teacher, executive or a skilled-laborer, one needs to take care of their health. If Linda does not live with her parents, it’ll be harder for her to recover from her sickness. Her mother would have cooked for her and made sure she took her medicine. Work/life balance is important; being a workaholic is not good.
Ooooo u need a good rest gal take care!!!!!
Poor Linda, she’s obviously exhausted from work and just needs lots and lots of rest.
What’s the big deal? Why is there suddenly so much focus on her?
Ruco, I heard, is also sick but as usual, not a word is mentioned about him!
Trying to gain pity for TV Queen
I hope Charmaine wins cause Linda can’t act.
im not a charmaine fan but i’ admit she did well in line walker. and she def deserves it more than linda. linda has a lot of improving to do. i dont know who she kiddin thinking shes going to win tvb queen.
It seems ironic that she would faint during filming as she is learning how to treat patients through traditional Asian medicine. She would have be able to self diagnose and conjure remedy to get well as she described her learning experience in a recent interview accompanied by Ruco Chan. Of course, doctors don’t follow their own sage advice in real life anyways. She is probably a workaholic with low self esteem trying not to let naysayers crtiticze her performance thus striving to better herself with little rest for herself. Only she can care for her own mental and physical state.
As much as I pity her for her desperation to win TV Queen. She is so not ready for it. Her role in her new drama is the same old cry baby. Boring. If she does win. I’m done with TVB.
Agreed. If she wins, I’m gonna watch K-drama instead.
yes – i agree.
Yes, I agreed. Charmaine is really improving too. This character suits her n she act it out so well. Great job Charmaine
I don’t know why.. but for some reason, I’m getting tired of looking at Linda’s face.
I literally don’t know why because I was never a fan of hers, and never really cared for her, neither do I watch her dramas. But when I saw this picture, i was like… it’s her again?
Oh yeah, right. Pretend to work sooooo hard for her role until she’s fainted. Some pitiful points for the Best Actress award. Well played, Linda, well played.
time to take a break.
Get well soon ! Linda ! Fighting ! Can’t wait to meet you this Sunday !!! ^ ^
Really? where?
