Yao Ming Films Reality TV Show, “Dad, Where Are We Going 2?”

With the success of the first season of Dad, Where Are We Going? <爸爸去哪兒>, celebrities Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Gary Chaw (曹格), Lu Yi (陸毅), Huang Lei (黃磊),  and Yang Wei (楊威) and their children were confirmed to join the second season. To the surprise of netizens, former NBA star Yao Ming (姚明) has also been filming Dad, Where Are We Going? in secret.

Before the first season was released, director and producer, Xie Di Kui (謝滌葵),was already confident that the reality television show would be a hit. Spun-off from the Korean version, Xie Di Kui stated that China is much more rich in heritage and is more geographically ideal.

Fans began speculating that Yao Ming was partaking in the reality show when some people witnessed the basketball giant getting out of a van with the working crew of Dad, Where Are We Going? earlier this week. Yao Ming was a popular choice for the show – many wanted to see how an extremely tall, and intelligent basketball player would take care of his little daughter. However, because of his busy schedule, Yao Ming was unable to film for the first season, and was actually not on the list of official cast members in the second.

While waiting outside the hotel Yao Ming was staying at, netizens commented on Yao Ming’s enormous stature. “Yao Ming’s head is actually quite big, the production crew had to especially order an extra large bed, blanket, and pajamas. Even the cup for brushing his teeth was an extra large size.”
